Dr. Wechsler co-founded Nephrology Specialists IPA, the physician network managing value-based care for more than 4,000 of Southern California's highest-risk patients. As Chief Medical Officer of RheoMed, its management organization, he built and leads the care-management program behind those results — a team of nearly fifty clinicians, coordinators, dietitians, and social workers.
The mandate was never to see patients more often. It was to keep them out of the hospital, slow their disease, and make sure treatment decisions arrived on schedule rather than in an emergency room.
